We are happy to announce the new release of Pitch Commander™ that provides full support for more platforms than ever before. 64 bit Windows and Linux and Mac OS X are now officially supported and the DIS configuration has been much improved. This release also contains a lot of fault tolerance improvements and optimizations for large installations, for example when parts of the network is temporarily unavailable due to service, upgrades or failures. Pitch Commander works particularly well over wide area networks when used together with Pitch Booster. This release is now available at no extra cost for all customers with a valid maintenance contract.

During the last I/ITSEC conference, Presagis announced that the 2011 Most Valuable Industry Partner award goes to Pitch Technologies. The Most Valuable Industry Partner award recognizes partners who have excelled in delivering exceptional value to the industry over the course of the year. Pitch is happy to announce that TNO is successfully using the latest features in the Pitch Recorder, enabling them to record and play back Link 16 data. We are happy to announce the release of Pitch Developer Studio™ that generates object oriented middleware for C++ and Java. The new version adds support for HLA Ownership Management, while maintaining backwards compatibility. It also adds optimizations for large federations and support of Mac OS X. It also generates code that can access a federation using the HLA Evolved Web Services API. This version is now available at no extra cost for all customers with a valid maintenance contract. |

Pitch Technologies is proud to announce that Björn Möller, Vice President and Mikael Karlsson, Product Architect at Pitch have received SISO’s Technical Merit Award. The price was presented during the SISO Simulation Interoperability Workshop in Boston, 4-8 April 2011. This price is awarded in recognition of technical excellence in the development of standards and has so far only been awarded to three persons.

Pitch has received a SIWzie award for the recent paper “Object-Oriented HLA - Does One Size Fit All?”. It was ranked number one on the “Recommended Reading List” from the SISO Spring Simulation Interoperability Workshop 2010. The full list of papers is available here. This paper covers theoretical and practical aspects of middleware that gives Object-Oriented access to HLA-based federations. It also summarizes some experiences and challenges from developing the COTS Product Pitch Developer Studio, that generates C++ and Java code for HLA federates. IEEE has officially published the new version of HLA, code name “HLA Evolved”, formally named IEEE1516-2010 on 18 August. The new version contains a large number of new features and improvements. Pitch pRTI and Booster products were selected by Astrium GmbH to update the distributed simulation system for the ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle) spacecraft developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European space industry led by Astrium GmbH. The HLA-based system will be deployed between the Astrium GmbH facilities in Bremen (Germany), ATV Control Centre in Toulouse (ATV-CC, France) and Mission Control Centre in Korolev near Moscow (MCC-M, Russia). It is purposed to facilitate training of the ground controller teams at both centres starting from May 2010. ATV spacecraft is providing logistics and orbit control to the International Space Station (ISS) and is a key ESA contribution to the ISS programme. The first ATV performed its flawless space mission in 2009, while the second spacecraft is currently scheduled for launch at the end of 2010. |

Pitch Developer Studio™ generates object-oriented middleware in C++ and Java that supports the HLA Evolved format. Runtime products such as Pitch Recorder™, Pitch Commander™, Pitch Google Earth Adapter™ and Pitch DIS Adapter™ also support HLA Evolved. Note that the HLA Evolved standard is formally known as IEEE 1516-2010.

After almost twenty years as President and CEO of Pitch Technologies (Pitch) Staffan Löf has decided to leave his operational duties and move on to work with strategic market and business development. In his new role as Senior Adviser he will continue to work closely with Pitch and other companies within BAE Systems to further develop business within areas such as Infrastructure, Simulation and Training. He will also serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Pitch.
Staffan will be succeeded by Stefan Sandberg. Stefan has a previous employment with Saab Aerosystems where he, from having a leading role in the design and development of the Gripen training system, have been working with business development and marketing of training systems. Stefan already has an established contact network and lots of experience from the simulation and training market. With that background and his congenial personality Stefan is very well positioned to lead Pitch into the future. Stefan will formally join Pitch the first of May. |
